Detroit Choice Awards to Celebrate 5th Annual Awards Show

Detroit, MI – The Detroit Choice Awards celebrates the 5th annual award show on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the Lexus Velodrome 601 Mack Avenue, in Detroit, Michigan 48201. Each year the awards program acknowledges Vanguard honorees and the people's choice nominees of leaders, changemakers, and local businesses for their contribution to the City of Detroit.

"The pandemic has proven to us just how fragile life is, Detroit was hit hard, and we lost a lot of great leaders to COVID; it has been devastating. So, we are dedicated to giving people their flowers while they are alive,"
says Dave Bishop, founder of Detroit Choice Awards. 

Comedian Mike Bonner will serve as this year's host. Vanguard honorees include Judge Craig Strong, Melissa Butler, Joe Robinson, Jason Wilson, Thomas Wilcher, Tonya Ayers, Odis Bellinger, Benny Napolean (posthumous), Nicole KQueen Denson, Charles Thomas Jr., and Young Men for Christ. 

Charles Thomas Jr., president of Results Mentoring, will receive the Humanitarian of the Year award. T3 of the group Slum Village to receive the Renaissance Perseverance Award. 

After nominating favorite businesses and change agents in selected categories, Detroiters voted, and after over 73,000 votes, the top three of each category moved forward. The winner of each category will be announced during the awards ceremony. 

Performers will include; House of JIT, JIT Masters, DJ Stormy, Lathun, Janine Williams, and Detroit Youth Choir. More information and tickets are available online at www.DetroitChoiceAwards.Com.
